Well I was going to work on something to submit to the Less Than Three Press Anthology. Instead I got mugged by a totally different story. A monstrous novel length story that will probably never fully get written. Sigh. Just what I need.

Oh well. At least I'm writing.

Some people expressed some interest in the story behind the second drabble in this post. And since I can be suckered into writing just about anything, I thought I do a bit more in that universe.

Billy: Braaaaains.
Teddy: No.
Billy: Why? Not even a nibble?
Teddy: Because you know my brains just move out of the way so you can't get to them.
Billy: I hate it when you play hard to get.

Y'all, I don't even know. It's been a strange, strange day and I'm not even sure if these two are being funny or if Billy really is a zombie.

Then we have this bit of dark humor:

Teddy watched as Billy started to glow blue. What are you doing?

"Using magic," Billy replied. He started to mutter under his breath.

In the middle of the cemetery? Don't you think someone is going to notice? It was a valid concern. The night was pitch black without even a moon in the sky, and Billy glowed like a night light.

"Teddy, if magic is going to force me to dig up the body of my dead boyfriend at midnight three years after he's passed, the least it can do is make sure I don't have to use a shovel to do it." Billy voice was tight, like it got whenever someone was distracting him in the middle of a spell. "Do you want to be whole again or not?"

Good point. Do it.

I had completely forgotten I'd written so much of this idea until I was flipping through a notebook looking for an empty page. Of all the Young Avengers, I always feel like I have the hardest time getting Teddy's character right. I feel like I have a good grasp of everyone else, but just can't seem to get Teddy quite right. This is the only thing I've written where I didn't get that feeling so I'm really proud of it.

Now I just have to convince myself that I won't screw his characterization up if I write more of it. -_-

My urge to write has pretty much rolled over and died. I've been working on other projects until it resurrects itself. I did manage to get part of a House of M AU written before it croaked. I just like this part because I think Tommy's frustration is funny.

It has no place in the story, but I kind of want to write the cops reaction when he calls that number and gets put through to Eric Magnus, ruler of Genosha. There's a cop that just about craps his pants. XD

It was fall and that could only mean two things on the Stephen T. Frasier University campus. Classes and job fairs. Every year in the Quad various companies and organizations held recruitments, one smaller during the autumn season and a larger one during the spring before graduation. This week was devoted to the paladins. Every day a different set of blonde bimbos and romance cover rip-off men would come in and try to convince everyone to join the ranks of goodness and light and rainbows and defend the ordinary citizens of the world from those who had – gasp! – dark magic.

Erin would really be more sickened by the whole thing if the eye candy wasn't so enjoyable.

"Could you be a little less subtle there, Erin?" Canace said. They were sitting on a blanket under some trees that lined the Quad eating lunch. It was just the four of them: Canace, Brenna, Randolph and herself. One blood mage, a gray witch, a werewolf and a demon summoner. Perfectly normal. Nothing to see here.

"We're supposed to be keeping an eye on the paladins in case there's any trouble like last year. I'm just keeping an eye on them." A very close eye. Those jeans were so tight that they were practically indecent.

"You're a demon summoner. Those guys would call you evil and try to get you thrown in jail in a heartbeat. How can you even stand to look at them?" Brenna asked.

One of the paladins dropped a pen and bent over to pick it up. Nice. "It's a tough job, but I'm willing to make the sacrifice," Erin replied.

Class got out early, so I was able to get this finished. It's completely un-betaed, which I've noticed is usually not a good thing. I went back through some of the unrevised parts of this story and good lord, it's a wonder people don't think English is a second language for me. Sorry about that.

Poor Osmond. His body knows what it wants, but his culture has told him that he doesn't want that. I feel sorry for him.

A bunch of story fragments from different files. I'll have <2 pages of a story (or sometimes just a paragraph or two) and I'll realize its not close enough to what I see in my head. Or the characters aren't right. Or I just forget where I was going with it. Or I wander off to something more interesting/cohesive. So here are some fragments.

Because I like sharing and will gladly accept any and all suggestions on this. Specifically, what questions would the Emperor ask in this situation that I'm forgetting? Is the dialogue too awkward? Can you tell who is speaking or does it get confusing at points? Thank you in advance.

Well, this story seems to have settled into some sort of semblance of plot. Or at least I've got more written on it than any of the other 6-7 times I've attempted to use this idea. Still not much. I just wanted to see if what people think about it.
