Since this is the first thing I've written in a while (and it's mostly typing up some previous written parts), I'm going to post it. Because darn it, I need to start writing again. Warning: has my comments to myself in it.

I can't believe that after spending all afternoon writing my thesis I come home... and write. Something is obviously wrong with me. I'm typing this directly into my LJ, so I imagine it's going to be full of errors.

Okay, I a little better now.

Yesterday at the airport I decided to buy a couple of books to read on the flight. I'd brought three books to entertain me on the trip, but given the 3 hour flight delay, I wound up going through two of them and miome told me the third was depressing. I didn't want to read depressing. That meant stopping at the Borders in the Las Vegas airport and picking up a book.

I like trashy romance novels. I don't read them as much as I use to, but I especially like picking them up when I'm going to be flying. Why? Because they are usually easy reads that don't require a lot of deep thought and I can get through them in one plane ride. This meant that besides getting Terry Pratchett's latest (Making Money) I also checked out the romance section.

Oh god, I think the publisher's have been scanning my brain. Since it's not on the Amazon site, let me type up the blurb on the back of The Dragon Master.

Seriously, did anyone think I was going to be able to pass up a book with that on the back?

The book itself, alas, does not live up to the promise of the blurb. The writing is okay, but the character's reactions to situations are totally unbelievable. I mean really unbelievable. So much so that they have all the depth of a parking lot puddle at times. There moralistic debates are laughable at times. The pacing is off in that I felt that most of the book the characters were blindly moving from one disaster to the other for no other reason than the author needed something to move the plot forward. Which half the time, it didn't even succeed at doing. There were times I was wondering why the scene I'd just read had happened at all.

Also, the author was obviously in love with the characters she created in the previous two books set in this world, because she used every opportunity to have them appear. Worse of all, I felt like the sex scenes were being used as filler. Seriously, the two main characters had sex at the most random moments. Moments when normal people would be doing stuff like, oh I don't know, trying to save the world or panicking because they suddenly had powers they couldn't control.

I do have to admit though, I kind of want to read the other books in the series (which includes Dragon Heat and The Black Dragon). But the best (at least description wise) has got to be Dragon Actually. Read that description and tell me you are not desperately curious. I dare you.

It's still not good enough for me to want to buy them though. Anyone have them or want to buy them out of morbid curiosity? I'm willing to mail my copy off in trade if you'll send me the one you have. Maybe a bunch of us can do a book swap of them? ^_^

Many thanks to both mechante_fille and maderr for assuring me that it was fine and WHY WAS MORE NOT WRITTEN YET? This isn't quite where I wanted it to go, but with characters like Luke (stubborn bastard) this is what I got. And quite frankly, I'm tired of looking at it right now.

You all were complaining about last time's cliff hanger. Oh ye of little faith. This stopping point is worse.

Next time though, I promise porn.

Oh my goodness... my player just pulled up the Discovery Channel song by the Bloodhound Gang. O_O I swear it's psychic.

I am not on campus today. My throat is raw, my head hurts, I'm stuffed up, and my body aches. I am sick. I cannot afford to be sick, especially not tomorrow when I'm meeting up with my manager from my internship and the DNR. Ugh.

In sixteen more minutes, I am going to make myself take a shower instead of dozing on the couch.

If people have questions about the world the dragon threesome is set in, let me know. Since I'm doing the stories kind of piecemeal, I'm not putting into it the careful world-building I usually do. It's not that I don't have it planned out. It's just there's no good way to put it into the parts I'm writing, because really, no one wants me to go into several pages of world building right in the middle of getting to the porn. And I, for one, don't particularly feel like having people camping at my doorstep with pitchforks demanding that I make with the porn already.

You know, the entire time I was writing this all I could think was "Well, at least Luke didn't lock himself in a closet." LOL, the irony.

If you read the little fragment I posted yesterday, you'll see mention of "what happened last year with the paladins." This is what they are referring to. Poor Justin. His life is such a pain sometimes.

This is only three pages, but seriously, I should not have as much fun as I am writing it. I guess 4+ years doing geology is good for something. Like setting up porn.

I think I totally turned one of my old characters gay. Or maybe bi. I can totally, totally see him being bi. I can't wait till I actually introduce him now.

HAHAHAHA. I'm so glad I never have to look at this part again. I need to read through all three parts to make sure I didn't put any glaring plot holes in it and the ending it slightly rushed. Otherwise, I don't care! Now I can move on to part four or the little side story I've had in my head forever.

I have received confirmation that my snail_mail_porn partner has received my package. SCORE! My package has been slightly delayed for a very good reason (involving a hospital o_O). So I wait eagerly for my own package.

Despite my best efforts (involving screaming at the screen "MAKE WITH THE PORN ALREADY") this never got above a PG-13. There's always the sequel, which has already been started. So here it is, in all it's 28 page, 11,769 word glory.

EDIT: ENTRY TOO LONG? Damn. I'm going to have to divide it into two parts. ^^;
