Flu shot

dragon food
Just went and got a free flu shot. Now I'm all shaky because I hate, hate, hate needles with a burning passion. It was over quickly, but still. I have also found out that due to a administrative foul-up I am currently without health insurance. Lovely.

Sigh... is Monday over yet?

needles terrify me too.

i cannot believe i willingly went into the doctor's 3 months ago to get not one, not two, not three, but FOUR shots all at once. that's what ends up happening, i guess, when you haven't had insurance for a long time, and then you have it again. i'm sure going to college was part of that too, but mostly the health insurance.

mondays are only bad if you think they're going to be bad. my mother's always said that, but it's never helped me, so, instead, i try to see if i can run people over with whatever my mode of transportation is for the day on my way to school/work. you should try it. =D it's lots of fun!

I fully understand the whole "I have insurance. Quick! To the doctor!" When I finally got a job with dental insurance, the first thing I did was go to the dentist and be evaluated to get all four of my wisdom teeth out. I wanted them gone. They were impacted and removing them damaged a tooth near them, resulting in me getting another tooth pulled, but it was totally worth it. I'm no longer in pain every few months!

I use to play the points game. "Little old lady in the road. 20pts if you hit her. Extra 20 if she doesn't get up in 20 minutes. +5 pts because she's using a walker." I had to stop because too many people thought I was morbid. XD

XD

it's a way of life; don't expect them to understand.

as to dental insurance, when my mother remarried, her new hubby had this amazing dental plan, and my wisdom teeth were starting to come in, although not causing me extreme pain quite yet. So off to the dentist we went!
and only after taking care of her children does my mother use that health insurance to help herself. honestly, she's the one that most needed it. technically speaking, she shouldn't even be walking on her own anymore. but my family is, if nothing else, full of stubborn, hard-headed people.

When I get shots or blood drawn there is a moment where my brain struggles to decides whether to look or not. In the end I usually end up watching and cannot look away.

I cannot watch. I look away, tell them not to warn me, and cannot make myself relax. I actually almost decked a doctor because he decided that he was going to come at my face (well, actually my neck which is close enough to my face) with a HUGE needle to take a biopsy without warning. Yeah, no. You will explain what's going on before you do it.

And my mom wondered why that doctor had me completely sedated before he'd do surgery. XD

I wish I could get a flu shot. They are rationed here. Health personell get them, of course. People with asthma, diabetes, heart problems. Some people in key jobs, I think. Then it is a bit random how much is left to the rest of us.

These were offered free by the University to all students and faculty. I don't blame them for offering. All those students going from class room to class room spreading around the virus... yeah, I can see why they want people on campus to be vaccinated.
